The Bookworm – Lemoyne, Pennsylvania
Sam Marcus, proprietor and “book guru” of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania’s The Bookworm Bookstore, has been selling books for decades. Having served the Harrisburg area for more than 40 years, the shop prides itself on being “your personal bookstore.”
If my encounter with the friendly staff at this neighborhood shop is any indication, it’s a title they’re living up to. Truly a family business, Sam, his wife, son, and daughter are all apparently regulars behind the counter at The Bookworm.
Don’t let the fact that the shop is located on the second floor of the West Shore Farmers Market give you a wrong impression. The Bookworm isn’t simply a small booth in an indoor market. It’s an expansive space that is chock full of used, out of print, and rare books, along with prints, vintage magazines, and more.
Visitors will find the shop tucked into a corner of the upstairs portion of the market, with shelves of books and records that lead into an even larger space inside a “storefront.”
There are sections for fiction, classics, poetry, music, biography, cookbooks, mystery, and plenty more. Interestingly, there’s also an in-house custom framer on hand to make your illustrations, photographs, and artwork ready for hanging.
And if you can’t make it to The Bookworm in person, you can browse their inventory and shop online.
The Bookworm Bookstore is located at 900 Market Street, on the second floor of the West Shore Farmers Market, in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. Open Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
